DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY:

Mission: The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is dedicated to national leadership in bringing art and people together to discover, enjoy, and understand the world’s diverse artistic heritage.

In 1883, The Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts, was formed by 25 art enthusiasts, committed to finding ways to bring the arts into the Minneapolis community. Their dream to have an art museum in Minneapolis became a reality in 1915, when the neoclassical style, art museum facility, The Minneapolis Institute of Arts  opened its doors to the public, offering exhibits featuring the eight hundred works of art which had been collected.

Over the years, The Minneapolis Institute of the Arts has grown both structurally and collection-wise. In 1974, a new wing of the museum opened, designed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. In June 2006, another new wing, designed by architect Michael Graves, was open to the public. These two wings add to the space of the museum, where people can enjoy exhibits made up of around one hundred thousand objects of art, which are rotated onto displays.

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has seven "curatorial areas" of interest: Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; Architecture, Design, Decorative Arts, Craft, and Sculpture; Asian Art; Paintings and Modern Sculpture; Photographs; Prints and Drawings; and Textiles.

Georgia O’Keeffe: Circling Around Abstraction Exhibit features 42 extraordinary works, including paintings, watercolors, and sculpture.

The Connecticut Room has on display a variety of early 19th century furniture and room furnishings, some of which were donated by architect Rhodes Robertson, a citizen of Minneapolis whose family came from Massachusetts. He inherited some lovely pieces and donated them in 1970, four years before he died.

HISTORY OF MANIFESTATIONS:

Sometimes people get attached to items they leave behind in this life.  A museum is full of donated items, or items on loan from private collections. It goes to reason some entities may check up  on or haunt  their favorite possessions or things which meant the most to them during their life time. (Lilly Library * United States Air Force Museum * Steak Joynt * The Mourning Room DisplayHessian Soldier Painting)

MANIFESTATIONS:

Throughout the various sections of the museum, people have experienced extreme cold spots, especially in the exhibit area called the Connecticut Room.  There are no logical explanations for these moving cold spots, and people who are knowledgeable about paranormal occurrences, have authenticated them as real cold spots.

STILL HAUNTED?

It appears to be.

Several paranormal groups list The Minneapolis Institute of the Arts as having this manifestation still occurring.
